"What is there so strange in it? If a big elephant is tied down in a small hut, what else will happen to that hut except shaking to its foundations?"
— Ramana Maharshi to his attendant Kunju Swami who had noticed that Bhagavan's body and head were subtly vibrating.
[SUMMARY: In this Maximality post, I disclose additional refinements on the Chopstick drill (Chapter 1 of Bare Metal Minimality book), which temper and anneal to generate IP intensity beyond all reason. New short video is included below the paywall.]
Time once again for another cycle of detailing on the Chopstick drill. For any of you paid Subs who may be thinking “Why do these updates always seem like such small and subtle stuff?”, let me clue you. The operative word in your question is ‘seem’. Because once you get control of the gross mechanics of any of these drills, these ‘subtle’ deepenings massively amp the output, punching way above their weight. So please pay careful attention and you’ll get more than what you pay for here.
First, as always, go back to your dog-eared, thumb-worn, by-now-barely-legible copy of Bare Metal Minimality and re-read Chapter 1 in its entirety. Even if you have taken up this particular drill and work it daily, I guarantee you’ll notice at least one new thing in there that will help your existing performance of it and harvest from it.
In BMM, I stressed the forearm attention, and the resulting energetic ‘packing’ experience in specifically your forearms. That’s great if you’ve understood and are practicing it! But now that you are, the extended mental ‘points of origination’ directives for this drill can take your IP a lot further. So below I’ll get into a further refinement, with a new demo video.
