June Seminar Program: Radical+Classical Hybrid
I’m doing my yearly seminar in Santa Barbara this year, Saturday and Sunday June 6th and 7th. Information below at the bottom of this post. I don’t need to remind anybody that with the state of the world at present, this occasion (same as any other really) could very well be the last one.
The pre-signups are now maxed out, at the level I like to hold it, for some degree of individual attention. However, every single year I get 3 or 4 late cancellations - “New job’s a hassle and the kids have the flu” type of thing. Life, in short. Therefore, I want to over-stock by 3 heads. I wanted to mention the general content structure of the sessions. We have a good amount of time each day, I’ll be there from 9 AM, on to 5+.
Mornings (Saturday/Sunday) In the mornings we’ll work on IP drill nuggets. That means the full contents of my book Bare Metal Minimality - all chapters. Also, I’ve now written 100+ Substack posts on BMM extensions, in another “Section” of this blog here, which is functioning as an ever-evolving 2nd Edition of BMM. It’s a “live action” dynamic book.
Afternoons (Saturday/Sunday) I will devote to classical arts. Most especially Tai Chi in the ZMQ37 lineage, where I will essentially “clone” a real Ben Lo style correction session, as close to having Master Lo correct you as you’re likely to easily find on this earth at this point. Part of that will however also go a bit beyond the strict ZMQ37 form, as I’ve added just a few practical training elements to amp up this excellent routine even further. I’ll explain and motivate the reasons for those additions. The Tai Chi sessions will include ample time and scope for sensitivity, push hands, and kuzushi work for anybody interested. I’ll also include drills and techniques from the classical arts of Hebei Five Elements / 12 Animals Xingyiquan and Yiquan (Yao Chengguang lineage).
On Saturday evening if we have a quorum of interested people we can consider going out for dinner and stories etc. So if interested, drop me a line and let’s get you in the door!

Location: Downtown Santa Barbara, CA 93101 Location details sent with confirmation of pre-registration.
Dates: June 6, 7 (Saturday, Sunday)
Times: I will be there at 9 AM both days for checkin, setup and informal connection. Program starts not later than 9:30 AM. Go til 5 PM with breaks. Dinner Saturday (Dutch, somewhere TBD) if sufficient interest.
Tuition: $250 for the weekend. Two day attendance is preferred but if you can only do single day tuition is $150. Payment cash at door or paypal to taichisingularity@gmail.com. Discount in case of genuine need, talk to me.
Misc: Light athletic shoes, and keep in mind coastal CA can be chilly in the mornings.
Reading: Bare Metal Minimality recommended.
