One Minute SLO Kick
There’s a Single Leg Operation (SLO) from Tai Chi that’s very useful for internal energy development or 基本功 (internal power basic training. It’s usually called 转身左蹬脚 (Lotus Kick or Heel Kick). A lot of people do static standing medication for qi gong these days. But this kick SLO is next level.
The above video is a typical way to practice it. Try to hold without signifiicant movement for 60 seconds, one full minute on each side.
The video above is me doing as part of my normal practice, holding for 60 seconds. It’s a real-ffftime demo. There is no editing, retiming, slowing or speeding the video in any way.
It’s simple and looks pretty easy, and for some people it will be. But for others it can be challenging to keep your balance with leg extended, no resting or drooping, while remaining calm, stable and relaxed the entire time.
