In the Bare Metal Minimality book (BMM) I introduced two separate drills as part of the Golden Dozen:

  1. Friction Stepping (a version of an Yiquan staple)

  2. Modified Santishi (a version of a Xingyiquan staple)

These are amazing standalone drills. Here’s an additional hint so that, if you are already doing both, you can maximize your charge from both.

But first do the following to set the foundation:

  1. Reread both chapters in BMM: Walking Friction Step (2) and Alternative Santishi (6).

  2. Reread all the FMM (Full Metal Maximality) posts (here) about the two of them, such as: FRICTION STEP: Pay Attention to This, and ALT SANTI: Tiger Claw Mode, etc.

  3. Now you’re ready for the new twist below:
